Compare the same bake three ways: estimated margin on Etsy, on Instagram, and at the market stall

This is a planned spreadsheet (Excel + Google Sheets) for home bakers and cottage-food sellers who sell through more than one channel. Many baking calculators — including ones already selling on Etsy — start with what a recipe costs to make, and some already include packaging or a marketplace-fee percentage. The work they generally leave to the seller is assembling a comparable scenario for every channel. The same box of cookies can produce a different estimated result on each channel: Etsy takes its transaction, listing and payment fees; a market day adds a stall fee that has to be spread over whatever you actually sell; packaging differs between a shipped order and a market bag; and unsold perishable stock at the end of a market day is a cost the shipped channel never has. This sheet, if built, would pre-build those multi-channel scenario comparisons in one place, so the estimated margin per channel — after known fees and per-order variable costs, before your own labor, rent and taxes — sits side by side for the same product. Because stall-fee allocation and spoilage depend on how much you sell and waste, these are scenario estimates, not a single "true" margin. It has not been built. This page answers one question only: is a pre-built per-channel comparison worth building, at an intended price of $14.99 one-time?

Why validate before building

Planned modules (not built yet)

Estimates from this kind of sheet are scenario forecasts for comparing pricing decisions, not a profit figure: your labor, rent, equipment and taxes sit outside it, and the sheet would say so in plain text. What actually gets built — and which modules come first — will be decided by what signups say.

Who this is for

Intended price (not a selling price — not built, no payment, no pre-order)
$14.99 one-time

Signing up is one email — no payment, no reservation, no purchase commitment. In it, please say: what you bake, which channels you sell through, how you price today, the cost you find hardest to pin down (channel fees / stall fee / packaging / spoilage / other), whether you use Excel or Google Sheets, and whether $14.99 is a price you would pay given that existing baking calculators sell for $6.99–$9.99. Those answers decide whether this gets built and what goes in first.

This product has not been built. If 20 people sign up within 30 days (by November 13, 2026), full production starts; below that, the idea is dropped and every signup gets an email saying so. Price and threshold are validation parameters, not market conclusions.

FAQ

Can I buy it now?
No. It has not been built. This page is the whole test.

Does signing up commit me to buying?
No. Signup only means "tell me if it gets built." You decide when you see the finished product.

How is this different from the baking calculators already on Etsy?
Some existing calculators already include packaging or marketplace-fee inputs, so the proposed difference is narrower than a new kind of calculation. This one would pre-build side-by-side scenarios per channel: the same item's estimated margin after Etsy fees, after a market day's stall fee and unsold stock under your assumptions, and after direct-order payment fees, in one table. The test is whether that pre-built structure saves enough repeated work to be worth buying. If it does not, this page will show it and the idea closes.

Does the margin number include my labor?
No — and it should not pretend to. The planned table covers ingredients, packaging, spoilage and channel fees. Labor, rent, equipment and taxes are yours to add on top; the sheet would label the margin accordingly.

How would it be delivered, if built?
As a downloadable spreadsheet (Excel + Google Sheets) with written documentation — self-serve purchase and download, no one-on-one service attached.
